Gold. Colourful enamelled dial presenting a pair of nude lovers carving their names into a tree; a putto holding a torch is behind them. Verge escapement, hour and date dial.

Markings: 18-karat gold hallmark and mark on inside case; F. Meuron et Comp. on movement

A very good example of an Empire pocket watch with an enamel dial. 

 Based in Neuchâtel in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, Meuron & Cie. was a leading Swiss watch company with branches in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Geneva, and Paris.In addition to various types of gold skeleton pocket watches and watches decorated with enamel and pearls, the company also produced table clocks, mantle clocks, and cabinet clocks.
